Galway Independent – 20 January 2010
Off the Rails presenter Brendan Courtney and celebrity make-up artist Noel P Sutton will launch a new shop in Galway next month.
The Studio above the Hut Hair Salon on Market Street is a new concept in swap shops, carrying stock from various commercials and TV shows and also operating on a commission basis, selling quality clothes and accessories for clients.

Customers can bring in clothes they have bought for occasions and know they won’t wear again. These will be placed on sale in the shop for a six-week period.

The shop is the brainchild of Aisling Byrne, who has been designing for film and TV for the past 15 years, including ‘Love and Hate’, ‘Happy Ever Afters’ and ‘Marley and Me’ starring Jennifer Aniston.

Aisling is an award-winning graduate from Limerick College of Art and Design. She worked in fashion before moving into costume design. She has dressed various celebrities both on and off camera and has built a large clientele as a personnel stylist.

Aisling has also been collecting costumes for the past decade from all her productions and has an extensive costume hire range, from medieval right through to contemporary. The costume warehouse is based in her Spiddal premises in Sidean Industrial Estate.

Aisling is currently running sewing classes and styling classes for teenagers, which will be ongoing in her sewing rooms in Spiddal. She also is renting fully equipped design studios complete with the expertise of a qualified seamstress and pattern drafter, to young designers starting out in the business.

The launch, which takes place on Saturday 20 February, will be in conjunction with The Hut hair salon, which is celebrating 21 years in business in the West of Ireland.

Aisling also has a wedding show room in Spiddal, where customers can again bring in their wedding and bridesmaids dresses to be sold. Communion dresses are also welcome. The Spiddal shop and costume hire shop are opened from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm.

Aisling has a busy schedule this coming year between her TV contracts and shops, however, she is available for a limited amount of personal styling and will also be running various talks in conjunction with The Hut hair salon in the coming months.
